PF media director Sunday Chanda has refuted allegations that ruling party youths planned to burn down the Embassy of the United States of America in Lusaka.

In a statement, Monday, Chanda said the party had already been in contact with US Embassy to refute the rumors.

“PF wishes to distance itself from stories circulating on social media that its youths plan on burning down the Embassy of the United States of America in Lusaka. We have been in touch with US Embassy officials last evening and this morning (today) following rumored protests by alleged PF youths targeting the American Embassy. We assured them that the stories were fake news,” Chanda stated.

“We wish to underscore that the ruling party understands its boundaries very well and the matter involving Ambassador Daniel Foote, though of great public concern, was adequately addressed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Joe Malanji.”

Chanda accused opposition parties of manufacturing and circulating the rumors for political mileage.

“We wish to place on record that we have information that these rumors are being manufactured and planted online by one desperate opposition political party which is so desperate about getting into State House even if it meant setting the whole country on flames. We wish to categorically state that the said stories are nothing but a total fabrication, nonsensical in nature and very childish propaganda from a party masquerading as an alternative to the Patriotic Front when infact not,” stated Chanda.

“We advise members of the public and all concerned parties to dismiss the said stories with the highest contempt. Lastly, we are calling on the Zambia Police to bring those behind such falsehoods to justice because their conduct borders on criminality in line with our laws under the penal code cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.”
