POLICE have apprehended six Patriotic Front cadres for alleged electoral malpractices.
Meanwhile, the police have dispelled claims that they have impounded PF motor vehicles and also put PF acting president Given Lubinda under house arrest
In a statement, Thursday, Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga stated that the six cadres and a driver were using a Toyota Land Cruiser and upon being stopped by police, the driver sped off, bashing a police motor vehicle and almost running over a police officer.
“Police have apprehended six Patriotic Front cadres who are alleged to have been involved in electoral malpractices. The six and a driver were using a Toyota Land Cruiser beige in colour which upon being stopped by police, the driver later on sped off bashing a police motor vehicle and almost running over a police officer. Despite several warning shots the driver didn’t stop. Police are investigating the matter,” stated Hamoonga.
“‘We would like to dispel the falsehood being peddled on social media that police have impounded Patriotic Front Motor vehicles. In the same vein, we would also like to dispel another falsehood that police have put the Patriotic Front acting president Mr Given Lubinda under house arrest. As Zambia Police Service no amount of falsehood will sway us from carrying out our legal mandate of maintaining law and order throughout the country.”
