MINISTRY of Information and Media permanent secretary Kennedy Kalunga says investment in nuclear energy is key in achieving an affordable and stable source of electricity which isn’t affected by fluctuations in weather patterns. Speaking during a media training on Nuclear Programme Implementing Unit (NIPU) activities, Wednesday, Kalunga said steep fluctuations in rainfall patterns as a result of climate change caused power deficits which in turn affected economic growth. “As you may be aware, Zambia in 2014 embarked on the implementation of the nuclear program which will see the construction of a nuclear power plant and a centre for nuclear science and technology.
