TOURISM Minister Rodney Sikumba has revealed that two people have died as a result of human-animal conflict, both killed by elephants. And Sikumba says government will only compensate those in legally designated areas whose crops and livestock were damaged by some stray wild animals. In a ministerial statement to Parliament, Wednesday, Sikumba said the increase in the frequency of human animal conflict was due to continued encroachment in animal habitats, observable increase in wildlife numbers due to better policing, among others. “The problem of human-wildlife conflicts (HWCs) is not just in the mentioned constituencies.
