MINISTRY of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Mambo Hamaundu says government is almost finished with the consultations regarding street vending. Last month, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo rescinded his earlier directive to local authorities to clear out street vendors trading in undesignated areas, to allow for further consultations with stakeholders. In an interview, Friday, Hamaundu said meetings with different stakeholders have been successful, adding that government would soon make a pronouncement on what has been agreed on. “We are coming to the end of the consultation process.
