A LAWYER representing five foreign nationals who were arrested in connection with the foiled gold scam involving US$5.7 million has written to DEC, demanding that they be released immediately or taken to court. Meanwhile, businessman Shadreck Kapasa’s lawyers, Makebi Zulu Advocates, have equally written to the commission demanding his release, saying they won’t hesitate to take legal action should the commission ignore such demands. Makebi Zulu Advocates have submitted that their client, as a genuine whistle blower, provided useful information to DEC officers in good faith, hence his detention without any formal charge is unlawful and a violation of his rights.
