THE Auditor General’s Special Audit Report on RDA has revealed that government paid in excess of one billion Kwacha for a road project which was initially quoted at about K361 million, after revising the contract 19 times. The report reveals that although the revised contract sum stood at about K1.1 billion, government agreed to pay over K1.3 billion, which is almost four times the value of the initial contract sum. According to the report, in January 2011, government signed a credit facility with the African Development Fund of US$96,681,533 to finance the rehabilitation of the Great East Road between Nyimba and Sinda.
