PHARMACEUTICAL Society of Zambia president Keegan Mwape says a drug prescription is a legal document which can’t be avoided because no health facility can have 100 percent availability of medicines and medical supplies at any given time. Commenting on Health Minister Dr Elijah Muchima’s observation that prescriptions were still being issued despite the fact that medicines were plenty in hospitals, Mwape said the minister’s pronouncements could have serious ramifications for patients. “A prescription is a legal document that a person is supposed to use in order for them to access drugs, both from public as well as private facilities.
