THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says allegations levelled against its Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis that she exercised her powers beyond the law on campaign regalia, are baseless, misguided and unfounded. ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro says the Commission has not banned the use of political regalia altogether. Recently, ECZ said a person who contravenes Section 89 of the Electoral Process Act, which allows a person to use campaign regalia of a contesting candidate or political party, is liable to a fine of K60,000 or maximum imprisonment of two years.
