MINISTER of Local Government and Rural Development Gift Sialubalo has reinstated the Chongwe Municipal Council, allowing it to resume its full functions after a six-month suspension. On January 29, 2025, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development suspended all the councillors, including the Mayor of Chongwe Municipal Council, to allow for investigations into allegations of illegal land allocation.
