MINES and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe has disclosed that Munali Nickel Mine has been facing operational challenges due to a slump in nickel prices and investment challenges being faced by the firm. According to reports, the mine has severe operational challenges that have led to the suspension of some mining activities with about 900 of its workers going unpaid for over two months. The company is said to have shut down twice due to lack of resources which led to its contractors such as ZESCO being affected.
