SOME Zambians who followed politics around four decades ago will remember a very bizarre story of a Republican President who went to the extent of modifying the law to make motor vehicle theft a non-bailable offence in order to target one particular resident who had been giving him sleepless nights. A story is told that this unfortunate fellow had developed some intimate interest in one particular member of the First Family, something which the President did not like.
