Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) makes a timely introduction of a very important topic as it releases a report on political party funding in Zambia. The report which has revealed that 75 percent of sampled political parties in Zambia have low transparency levels regarding their funding confirms what we already know. Most of our political parties are essentially captured entities, financed by individuals and companies whose ultimate goal is not to serve democracy but to milk the state. When individuals and corporations pour money into political parties, they never do so out of patriotism. They are investors in power.
