Police in Lusaka have arrested five Lusaka men for beating up Justice Minister Given Lubinda last Friday.

In a statement, Tuesday, police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo named the suspects and stated that one other suspect was on the run.

“As a follow up to the reported case of assault in which Kabwata member of parliament, Hon. Given Lubinda was assaulted, police have charged and arrested five suspects. Those arrested are Martin Mambwe Kankonje charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 248 and also conspiracy to commit a felony which is contrary to section 396 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia while Patrick Chanda of Zambia Railways compound, Major Chanda of Misisi compound, Moses Mulenga of Chunga and Goodness Mwange of John Laing have been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony,” stated Katongo.

“Police are still looking for one suspect who is on the run. They will appear in court tomorrow.”
