FORMER Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda says there is no political gimmick at play in the recent dramatic Kwacha appreciation against major currencies. Speaking when he featured on ZNBC’s Sunday Interview, Chikwanda said the appreciation of the Kwacha was because of improvement in certain economic variables like copper exports whose price had tremendously improved. “Political coincidences are not there, Kwacha is going up because of improvement in the economy’s certain variables like improvement in the export of copper where the prices have gone up tremendously.
