Former Ministry of Health acting chief human resources development officer Henry Kapoko has lost his house to the state in a legal challenge mounted by the Anti Corruption Commission.
Yesterday, Lusaka High Court Deputy Registrar Aridah Chulu, who was sitting as magistrate, convicted and sentenced Kapoko to two years imprisonment with hard labour on all six counts of abuse of authority of office, theft by public servant and money laundering.
Magistrate Chulu ruled that the sentences would run concurrently.
The house in question, which was established to have been purchased from an illegal activities has now been given back to the state.
Magisrate Chulu also ordered that Kapoko must forfeit to the state K703,701 which he stole from the Ministry of Health.
The court further ordered that aluminum worth K31,982 and a conference table be forfeited to the state.
An ACC prosecutor made an application for the forfeiture of the property and money persuant to section 41 of the ACC act of 1996.
