SOUTHERN Africa Network Against Corruption Director, Gregory Chifire, says the new ACC Act should ensure the autonomous of the commission, not only on paper but in practice. Chifire says the Act should also ensure that the appointment of the ACC is detached from the executive. On Wednesday, government disclosed that Cabinet had approved in principle, the introduction of a Bill in Parliament to amend the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012 in order to align it with the objective of the National Policy on Anti-Corruption and the Constitution.
