DMMU National Coordinator Dr Gabriel Pollen says Zambia has managed to transport over 83,000 metric tonnes of maize from Tanzania, as of January 6, 2025. Addressing the media, Wednesday, Dr Pollen said 111,000 metric tonnes of maize was yet to be transported. “The government of the Republic of Zambia has also gone into arrangements with private transporters, TAZARA and with transporters from Tanzania to move maize and I am happy to report that as of 6th January, 2025 over 83,000 metric tonnes of the 195,000 metric tonnes paid for has been moved, in other words it has been loaded and it has been moved and it is actually in the country right now at various FRA warehouses across the country....
