BUS and Taxi Drivers Association of Zambia (BTOAZ) National Secretary Sydney Mbewe says a reduction in transport fares can only be guaranteed once there is stability in fuel prices and the exchange rate. Mbewe says while there has been a considerable reduction in fuel prices in the last two months, there is no guarantee that they will continue to go down. Last month, Mbewe said the association would wait to see how the pump price of fuel for June, 2025, would be before making a decision to reduce bus fares.
