THE United States government has announced that effective January 1, 2026, entry into the United States for Zambian citizens on B1/B2 visitor visas will be suspended. The travel restrictions have been imposed following an Overstay Report, which revealed that Zambia had a B-1/B-2 visa overstay rate of 10.73 percent and an F, M and J visa overstay rate of 21.02 percent. The entry into the United States of Zambian nationals as immigrants and non-immigrants includes the suspension of visas in categories B-1, B-2, B-1/B-2, F, M and J. Other countries facing these latest restrictions include Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, among others.
