BY the time Daniel Chisenga turned 18, pain had become his normal. At its worst, he recalls, his stomach would swell so much that he could barely walk, and doctors would drain up to 20 litres of fluid in a single procedure, yet no one could explain why it kept happening. Chisenga explains that his health struggles began when he was just two years old, starting with what seemed like ordinary stomach pain. Over the years, the pain worsened, and by the time he was 10, doctors discovered that his abdomen was filled with fluid.
