THE National Prosecution Authority (NPA) has seized GBM Trucking Limited, a company owned by former Defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM). In October 2024, the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court convicted and sentenced Mwamba to five years imprisonment with hard labour for conflict of interest and possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime. Magistrate Stanford Ngobola also convicted and fined Mwamba K50,000, or nine months’ imprisonment in default, for money laundering. However, Mwamba, who appealed the conviction, was later released from prison on medical grounds in April 2025.
