INFORMATION and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana says last week’s attacks on independent candidates by UPND members happened because some people failed to control their emotions. Kawana says only about five percent of the country’s nomination process experienced violence, adding that those isolated incidents have since led to arrests. Last week, violence erupted within the UPND during nominations, leading the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to halt ward and Lusaka mayoral processes.
