Information Minister Kampamba Mulenga says government has learned with shock the road mishap involving a Lusaka bound King Lion bus in which 43 people died 30 others were injured.
The bodies of the deceased have since been taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital mortuary where they will undergo a post-mortem.
Mulenga, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, said in a statement today that the Republic of Zambia and its people shared the grief with families of the deceased.
“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Zambia and its people, we would like to express our sincere sympathies with families of the victims. Our prayers and thoughts are with them in this difficult period. May the souls of the departed rest in peace,” said Mulenga.
The accident, involving a Zimbabwe registered King Lion bus, which was on its way to Lusaka, Zambia, happened on Wednesday, on the Harare-Chirundu Highway when the driver, who was among the deceased, failed to negotiate a curve.
