The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labour Kabwe Municipal Council director of engineering for corruption.
According to a statement issued by Anti Corruption Commission acting spokesperson Dorothy Mwanza today, Cosmas Mpundu was dragged to court for abusing his authority of office in the manner he facilitated the engagement of a surveyor.
“This is in a matter in which Cosmas Mpundu was arrested by Anti-Corruption Commission for abusing the authority of his office in the manner he facilitated the engagement of William Mhango to survey land on behalf of the Kabwe Muncipal Council without following laid down procurement procedures contrary to Section 99 sub Section 1 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” stated Mwanza.
“Honourable Mutafela Chimuka sentenced Cosmas Mpundu aged 47, of house number 6A Egypt Avenue, Highridge in Kabwe to two years imprisonment with hard labour of which one year has been suspended.”
