LUSAKA businessman Shadreck Kasanda’s wife Lauren Rhaphalle yesterday appeared before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court and denied the charge of assaulting her husband’s alleged lover, Rumbidzai Chibanda. Rhaphalle is charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm. She is alleged to have on August 9, 2023, in Lusaka assaulted Chibanda, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm. When the matter came up before Magistrate Mbuywana Sinvula, Wednesday, Rhaphalle, 29, pleaded not guilty. The accused is being represented by Lusaka lawyer Simon Mwila. After plea, Magistrate Sinvula adjourned the matter to November 8, 2023, for trial. Police arrested and detained Rhaphalle last month for having allegedly assaulted Chibanda.
