THE Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Gilbert Phiri has reached a consent judgment with several Nigerian nationals and a Zambian, Lewis Chisenga, to forfeit over US$1.7 million held in various accounts at Ecobank to the state. Phiri had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Court to seize 21 bank accounts held by 15 companies owned by Nigerian nationals and Chisenga. The DPP asserted that the Ecobank accounts, containing US$4,692,151.41, £19,300.31, €32,917.62, and K1,320.00, held money suspected to be proceeds of crime.
