A woman of Lusaka’s Chilenje South area has sued the state and a Police Officer in the High Court seeking damages for false imprisonment. Idah Banda, who has cited Caleb Zulu, an officer at Northmead Police Station and the Attorney General as respondents, wants damages for wrongful arrest and detention. Banda further wants damages for pain and suffering. In a statement of claim filed by the National Legal Aid Clinic for Women, Banda stated that she was on May 29, 2023, wrongly detained by Zulu on the suspicion of having forged documents.
