THE Kasama High Court has upheld the five-month sentence handed to former Roan PF MP Chishimba Kambwili by the Kasama Magistrates’ Court in 2023. In December 2023, Kasama Resident Magistrate Samson Mumba sentenced Kambwili to five months imprisonment with hard labour for expressing hatred or ridicule to persons because of tribe and place of origin. Kambwili then appealed the sentence in the Kasama High Court and was granted bail pending the hearing and determination of the appeal. However, yesterday, the Kasama High Court, in its judgement on the appeal, upheld both the conviction and the sentence.
