ZANACO PLC has patted a shot in the arm of the 2017 Mopani/Redpath Zambia Golf Open Championship with a US$20,000 donation.
The 2017 Zambia Open, that will have a total prize money of US$140,000, will be held at Nkana Golf Club in Kitwe from June 1-4.
Acting ZANACO managing director and chief executive officer Lishala Situmbeko said his bank decision to sponsor golf was a long-term strategy.
“We are not treating this as a transaction but as a partnership,” Situmbeko said at the cheque presentation ceremony at Nkana golf club on Thursday morning.
“We believe that with this sponsorship, this club, our customers and the nation at large will benefit.”
Meanwhile, Zambia Open Organizing Committee chairperson Emmanuel Mutati and club Captain Philemon Mwale saluted ZANACO for the gesture.
“This is an exciting period and we are delighted to have a big contribution from a big strong and reliable bank like ZANACO and we thank you for joining us on this journey,” said Mwale.
