The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company has announced that several residential areas in Lusaka will not be supplied water today due to a rip to one of the main supply lines around Waterworks.

LWSC Public Relations Manager Patson Phiri said affected areas included Chilenje, Libala, Kabwata, Kamwala, Matero, Matero East, Industrial and other the surrounding areas.

“The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company, wishes to inform its esteemed customers that during its ongoing works yesterday, we experienced a rip to one of our main supply lines around the Water works area. We have experienced huge loss of water since yesterday evening up to this morning. So we have been trying to fix this line the whole night, we have not been successful up to this morning because of the size of the pipeline and the massiveness of the works involved,” said Phiri.

“Because of this accident, areas such as Chilenje, Libala, Kabwata, Kamwala, Matero, Matero East, Industrial area and the surrounding areas will not receive supply today. We are working round the clock to ensure that water supply is restored. As a company, we sincerely regret this accident. However the supply lines must be treated as live because water supply will be restored as soon as the repair works are complete.”
