Kitwe PF district chairman Christopher Kang’ombe says the town is solidly behind ruling party secretary general Davies Mwila for his loyalty both to the party and to President Edgar Lungu.

There have been calls for Mwila to be replaced by Lusaka lawyer Kelvin Bwalya Fube whom PF members like Ephriam Shakafuswa believe could run the party better.

But in a solidarity statement today, Kang’ombe, who is also Kitwe Mayor, stated that Mwila had unwavering commitment to his duties.

“The PF in Kitwe district is solidly behind the Secretary General of the party Hon Davies Mwila for the great work he is doing on behalf of the general membership and President Lungu. He has been loyal to the party and our President. In addition, he brings experience and institutional memory to the PF which many of us youthful leaders can learn from. Hon Mwila has been visiting party structures from the time he was appointed by President Lungu to oversee PF operations. This shows that he has had unwavering commitment to his duties by visiting all provinces,” stated Kang’ombe.

“In terms of Hon Mwilas years of service to the party, we wish to remind PF membership of the various positions he had held: Provincial Chairman Copperbelt in 2004-05, member of Central Committee in charge of labour from 2006 to 2015, first PF member of parliament for Chipili constituency from 2006 to 2016, former Defence deputy Minister from 2011 to 2013 and former Home Affairs Minister from 2015 to 2016. What the S.G, Hon. Mwila needs is our continued support as lower organs for him to effectively perform as Chief executive of the party,” stated Kang’ombe.
