Police in Chalimbana on Monday picked up a headless body of a male juvenile identified as Tunashe Mumba.
In a statement, Tuesday, police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo, revealed that a 28-year-old Sichembe Farm care taker Michael Mumba reported that his son went missing around 14:00 hours.
“The report was made by Micheal Mumba aged 28 years of Sichembe Farm situated on Great North Road, a care taker that his son identified as Tunashe Mumba aged three years six months had gone missing from home on 08th April, 2018 at about 14:00 hours. The body of the child was discovered in the bush, 50 meters from the parents home, yesterday, 09th April, 2018 by a member of the public who was herding cattle and the body was found without a head,” Katongo stated.
“Police visited the scene and picked the body which was taken to the UTH mortuary. Police suspect that where the body was found is a secondary scene as the murder could have happened somewhere and later the assailants dumped the body where it was found. We have instituted investigations in the matter and we appeal to members of the public who could have helpful information in the investigations to report to any nearest police.”
