THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) says it has instituted investigations into the National Housing Empowerment Fund (NHEF) Riverdale land scandal. In early 2020, over 2,000 people rushed to secure land in NHEF’s Riverdale City Estate, which the company advertised to be only 17 kilometres from Crossroads Mall. The clients secured various sized portions of land and committed to clearing the full amounts within a five-year period, in equally weighted installments, while those who could pay more were encouraged to do so. According to some affected clients, NHEF had initially taken them to see the site and upon being satisfied, they went ahead to start making payments.
