TRADE Kings Foundation has donated library equipment and furniture to Lusaka Environmental Health University in a quest to contribute to the health and well-being of Zambians.
Speaking during the donation handover, Trade Kings Group public relations and corporate affairs manager Bridget Kambobe said the Foundation was cognizant of the importance of growing a cadre of quality public health professionals across the country.
“As the Trade Kings Foundation, we are cognizant of the importance of growing a cadre of quality public health professionals across the country. The high burden of illness, staff shortages, increasing, poor distribution of resources in the rural areas and lack of medical schools in Zambia have made it difficult for the local and national authorities to deliver effective health facilities to the people,” she said.
“The setting up of the first Environmental Public Health in the country is highly commendable as it guarantees enhanced specialization and professionalism in the Public Health space. Our support through this donation to the Lusaka environmental public health is not only in line with our focus on health but as a recognition the evolution of disease burden continues to grow at global level which requires on going transformation of curriculum and accelerated efforts to upgrade the public health qualifications and skills of students and general health care workers at large.”
She reaffirmed her company’s commitment to giving back to the community.
“The foundation remains resolute in its mantra’ [of] giving Back To the Community in order to contribute to improvement of livelihood as the world continues to experience various challenges which include health, access to clean water, access to education, gender inequalities and youth unemployment to cite but a few of the world top 10 challenges. As Trade Kings, to continue to invest and grow into the region in providing local, value-added products that meet the basic needs of the populace, we are fully aware that to achieve the sustainable development goals, private sector has to be on board. Trade Kings Group remains as a partner in development with government as it continues the economic recovery efforts with a model that has the people and communities at the centre of its core business,” read the statement.
