A News Diggers investigation has revealed that four Zambian businessmen namely, Sedrick Kasanda, Jim Belemu, Oswald Diangamo and commercial pilot Patrick Kawanu have been arrested in connection with a foiled gold scam involving US$5.7 million which was intercepted by the Drug Enforcement Commission at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Monday. Sources explained that Kasanda, who is one of the masterminds, attempted to flee the country but was cornered before he entered the Democratic Republic of Congo. A background check shows that Kasanda has previously been involved in controversial gold deals and was arrested by South African Police in 2017 after he allegedly swindled Malawian businessman and self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri in a transaction.
