HEALTH Minister Sylva Masebo says the country has recorded 2,870 newborn deaths from January to September in 2023. Recently, Petauke Central Independent MP Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda raised a Matter of Urgent Public Importance in the National Assembly in which he said there was a rise in newborn deaths at Petauke District Hospital and that the Hospital was losing five new born babies per day. First Deputy Speaker Malungo Chisangano directed Masebo to issue a Ministerial Statement on the purported rise.
