THE National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) has withdrawn its notice dated April 30, 2024, in which it announced that dental and spectacle benefits, among others, would be removed from the scheme effective July 1, 2024, following public outcry. According to ZNBC, NHIMA has withdrawn the notice under the directive of Health Minister Sylvia Masebo. ZNBC quoted Masebo as saying that according to the National Insurance Act Number 2 of 2018, any changes by NHIMA to the benefits package should be approved by the government, which was not the case.
