THE Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board says student loan recoveries as of June 2024 stood at over K90 million, bringing the cumulative recovered amount since 2018 to over K590 million. HELSB says it is also currently supporting 1,250 students on international scholarships in countries such as Russia, Azerbaijan, China, Cuba, among others, and further disclosed that 106 beneficiaries have passed away. Meanwhile, the Scholarships Board has awarded compliance certificates to student loan beneficiaries who have fully repaid their loans, among them Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) president Lungisani Zulu.
