UNIVERSITY of Zambia staff have resolved to conduct a strike ballot to settle their dispute with government over its failure to fully settle their dues. University of Zambia Professional Staff Union (UNZAPROSU) president Likezo Pumulo says the unions have informed the Labour Commissioner to conduct a ballot so that they can settle the dispute through a strike. In July, UNZA lecturers and support staff held a peaceful protest within the Great East Main Campus, displaying placards that read, “we are not volunteers.” This led to government releasing K206 million as a partial settlement of the K1.3 billion owed to UNZA staff.
