THE Lusaka City Council has demolished 150 structures at Kalunga Steel Market following an order by Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Garry Nkombo. On Friday last week, Nkombo directed the local authority to demolish the market as it was illegally built and situated on top of a drainage. The demolition exercise, which was done on Tuesday night, aimed to pave the way for renovations of the drainage system to prevent the stagnation of water and reduce the risk of a cholera outbreak.
