A DISPUTE has emerged at the USAID Alternatives to Charcoal Project between employees and management over redundancy packages following the withdrawal of aid by the American government. Two months ago, the US government announced the withdrawal of USAID funding, leading to the termination of the project. Employees who spoke to the media disclosed that, according to their contracts, in the event of redundancy, they were entitled to a severance package equivalent to two months’ pay for each year of service. However, management informed them, following legal advice, that they would only receive compensation for one year, regardless of their tenure.
