WHATEVER happens in the Kabushi and Kwacha parliamentary by-elections being held today, it must be recorded in history that this was a sham election devoid of any democratic tenets. It must be put on record that the ruling party did everything possible, using state institutions to obstruct justice in the process of oppressing political opponents. We are surprised that UPND members and ruling party officials are celebrating the outcome from the Constitutional Court, allowing today’s elections to go ahead. We are surprised they don’t realise that this is a sham election which they should not be proud of.
