GOVERNANCE Activist Rueben Lifuka says he is shocked that the Auditor General’s Office which has been producing reports on financial irregularities on government accounts every financial year has never been able to capture the theft of public funds at the Ministry of Finance. Mr Lifuka, who is also Transparency International Global vice-president, says while this is suspicious, he finds it even surprising that the Auditor General, who has been implicated and arrested in connection with the theft at the Ministry of Finance, would refuse to step aside while the matter goes to court.
