Chipolopolo Boys this evening beat Algeria 1-0 away, thanks to a Patson Daka strike in 65th minute which shuttered the hosts’ hope for a World Cup slot.

It’s Zambia’s second victory over the North Africans in as few as four days.

Before hosting Algeria at Heroes Stadium on Saturday, where the Copper bullets won 3-1, Zambia had never beaten the Desert Foxes in 30 years.

Earlier in the first half tonight, Zambia’s goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene saved Leicester striker Riyad Mahrez’s penalty in the 16th minute to keep Zambia’s hope for a debute World Cup appearance at the Russia 2018 games alive.

Zambia now has 7 points, 3 behind group B leaders Nigeria who stand at 10 points having won three games with one draw from four games played.

With only two more round of games remaining to play, Zambia has to unseat Nigeria, as only one top team will qualify for Russia 2018 from each group.
