Shepolopolo vice skipper and playmaker Barbara Banda has advised her teammates for the African Women Championship in Ghana to work extra hard and cushion the fourth place finish the team recorded in the COSAFA Castle Cup in South Africa last month.

Banda noted that it would not be easy for the squad to record easy victories during the championship adding that there was impeccable talent on the continent.

In an interview with Goal Diggers! Banda expressed her concerns with the squad summoned for the assignment.

“Our squad is full of youths and less experienced players while African giants like Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon have all the experience they need. I would just urge my teammates to work extra hard and not be intimidated by other teams’ records or history,” advised Banda.

Meanwhile, regular defender of the side Anita Mulenga said she had confidence in her teammates but wished they had more macho players to square up with the West Afrian sizes.

“I have no doubt this is the best squad for the country as of now. We play very well together and we are united. I just wish we had bigger players in size because we see West African countries with bigger and macho players. We are more of younger youths compared to other countries,” said Mulenga.
