The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has congratulated the four Zambian representatives in the CAF Inter-Club championship for qualifying to the second stage of competition.

FAZ communications manager Desmond Katongo said that the association was particularly delighted with the performance of the four clubs in both their away and home matches.

In a press statement availed to the media in Lusaka, Thursday, Katongo hailed the Zambian Super League for producing players that can compete on international level adding that the league was among the best on the continent.

“We are extremely happy with our flag carriers in both the CAF Confederations Cup and Champions League. They have done the Association and the nation proud. These results are a clear testament that our football has continued to grow both at domestic and international level. It is also an indication that the Zambian league is among the best on the continent,” he said.

Katongo further reaffirmed the association’s commitment towards taking the Zambian game forward.

“We will continue to support our local clubs in the best way possible. Our decision to restructure the Zambian league is one of the avenues that we want to use to take the game a step further. The Association will not relent until this obligation is fulfilled,” Katongo said.

He added that the association was hopeful that Zambian flag carriers will continue representing the country diligently by embarking on strides that can drive the Zambian game further up.

“The Association wishes to take this opportunity to thank the Management of Zesco United FC, Nkana FC, Green Eagles FC and Green Buffalos FC for their continued support towards the development of the Zambian game. We further wish to congratulate the players and technical benches for a job well-done. We are hopeful that the strides these clubs are making on the continent drive our game further up,” said Katongo.
