UPND president Hakainde Hichilema says corruption under PF has reached unacceptable levels.
And Hichilema has reiterated his commitment to dialogue.
In a statement welcoming remarks by the three church mother bodies, Tuesday, Hichilema stated that PF officials were looting in broad daylight.
“We take note of the statement issued by the three church mother bodies namely Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), and the Christian Council of Zambia (CCZ) and fully endorse their sentiments. UPND would like to once more state that our willingness and availability to participate in the upcoming dialogue remains high. We believe that the only way for us to resolve issues affecting the country is through genuine and unconditional dialogue. We would therefore like to emphasise once more that we are not setting any conditions for our participation in this dialogue. We also note their sentiments and fully agree with them that corruption under the PF leadership has reached unacceptable levels. As UPND, we wish to once more commit ourselves to zero tolerance to corruption,” Hichilema stated.
“There is no doubt in our minds that a lot of resources which could have been deployed in the social and productive sectors such as health, education, farming and others, have been looted in broad daylight. This looting amounts to economic sabotage.”
He stated that his party had been vindicated.
“We have finally been vindicated by all including PF senior leadership, that corruption is being tolerated with impunity at all levels of Government. This is what we have been saying all along. We once more reiterate our agreement with all the issues and observations made by the three church mother bodies yesterday. We urge them to speed up the process of pushing for the unconditional dialogue without further delays,” stated Hichilema.
