ZAMBIA Athletics has moved to bolster athlete welfare and safety by appointing provincial safeguarding officers in every province of the country. This marks a major milestone in the federation’s efforts to foster a secure and inclusive sporting environment. The appointments, revealed on Wednesday, followed nominations from the respective Provincial Athletics Area Board Executive Committees. This initiative is central to the federation’s broader objective of embedding safeguarding principles across all levels of the sport, ensuring that athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and other stakeholders operate within a protected and supportive framework. In total, 20 officers were appointed, with each province receiving both a male and female representative.
