The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) says it held a meeting with the plate manufacturers to ensure that the migration of motor vehicle number plates to electronic and technology-based, does not push the local manufacturers out of business.
Recently, RTSA and the Intelligent Mobility Solutions signed a concession to implement the road Safety Management System which would, among other things, see the migration of motor vehicle number plates to digital.
And according to a joint statement issued by RTSA head of public relations Fedrick Mubanga and Reflective Number Plate Association of Zambia chairperson Misheck Mwewa, Monday, the two institutions agreed to work on modalities to ensure that the migration was implemented without any loss of business on local number plate manufacturers.
“RTSA today March 26, 2018 held a meeting with the local number plate manufacturers – Reflective Number Plate Association of Zambia (RENPAZ). The meeting was held in the spirit of ensuring that local number plate manufactures are not pushed out of business once RTSA migrates to the implementation of electronic number plates. The meeting discussed cross-cutting issues and the two institutions agreed to work on modalities to ensure that the migration to electronic number plate is implemented without any loss of business on the part of the local number plate manufacturers,” stated Mubanga.
